Disability

I tried to apt for disability because I feel I can't get out if the house and work anymore. My case manager told me I had a hard case against me because if my education. Should I meet with the doctor to see if I qualify for disability it was advised, without lying, that I should disclose everything I haven't yet discussed with my team. My therapist wants to discuss this further. So do I.

  1. Yo are you American? and by disability and if your American then which do you mean? SSI or SSDI? if you are American download a mental residual function capacity. Here's one to print out. http://www.disabilitysecrets.com/resources/disability/disability-and-social-security/mental-residual
If your therapist is niether a psychologist or psychiatrist you might opt to have a psychatrist or doctor you see to sign off on it as well as lcsw and ext are low on the ssdi/ssi hierarchy. Check out that RFC from the link above and go to question 12. If in the questions that follow you get marked or extreme from you therapist or whom ever then well your educated but to crazy to work. Social security by the way prefer your doctors.
And if they want to send you to one of their docs it's advisable to go.

  2. You know, I think that education should really play no part in applying for disability. Mental illness can disable anyone regardless of age or education. It can just pop up and Wam You can't leave the house. I think it is hard for some including the government to understand that sometimes. They have this belief that only uneducated and poor people get sick. It's ridiculous! I have no idea why they think this but I guess it's a form of stigma....or ignorance....or both . I really hope you get disability and don't have to jump through too many hoops. I can relate to what you are going through. Sending positive thoughts your way.
