4.4 earthquake off Whittier fault line

This morning at 4 am a 4.4 earthquake hit Leg Lake off of the Whittier fault line. The quake was a short jolt. However it served as a reminder and wakeup call to Angelenos to be prepared for a major earthquake. www.ready.gov , www.fema.gov , and www.lakewoodcity.org , have all been saying the same thing: be prepared to be on your own for at least seven days. During and immediately after the earthquake city emergency units will be busy making sure infrastructure is secured. The fire department will respond to major emergencies first...this being major structure fires, fires due to gas leaks, etc... Police will respond to major civil disturbances...including and especially domestic violence, major accidents, etc...

In the mean time, 9-1-1 already knows an earthquake happened please do not call them to report it. Please take the time to check on your neighbors, especially the elderly and enfermed. If any live wired are brought down by the quake, PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH THEM. LIVE WIRED CAN AND WILL KILL ANY LIVING BEING TOUCHING THEM.
